Apparently my favoritest band ever, Dexter Freebish, is back! Nice little surprise to my evening. It's re-recordings of some of their classic tracks (sound awesome) and a few new songs. The new CD has been downloaded from Amazon!!

And now back to your regularly scheduled monotony...

Subject:Travelin' Ben...
Time:2:40 am.
Hello from Anaheim, CA. This last-summer-off thing has gotten to me and I've been doing a fair amount of traveling. Call it my summer of travel, or my Summer of Disney if you will. I did a two-week road-trip to Orlando and spent some time at Disney World, and here I am in a hotel across the street from Disneyland. Yes, I'm a giant dork, I know.

It's kinda weird to be at Disneyland but not staying on-property. You can really feel how small the property is compared to WDW in Orlando. The hotel I'm staying at said they were "across the street from the Matterhorn Mountain." They were NOT kidding. You can see lots of stuff in both parks from Harbor Boulevard, which runs right next to the parks. I looked up and the Monorail was there. Freaky!

OK - bedtime so I can be up for opening tomorrow :o)

Mood: warm.
People don't seem to understand why I want to move to Florida. Let's see... yesterday was December 30th and I was very comfortably walking around in shorts and a tee-shirt. I'm still kind of giggling about it! Have I mentioned I hate the cold weather? I can deal with it, yes, but that doesn't mean I like it.

I'm here for more than another week, though, so I'm gonna enjoy it :o)

Subject:Greetings from Gibson, PA
Time:2:08 pm.
Mood: snowed in.
Yeah, you read that right, Gibson, PA. Ithaca decided to give me a nice good-bye/happy-winter-break present of a lovely snowstorm. Pennsylvania added to it. So I pulled off the road and checked in to the Holiday Inn Express here. I do have to say: for the middle of nowhere, and not that much money, I have quite a nice room in a newly-built hotel. That said, I want to be home and HATE the Winter :o(

I've already explored the entire hotel (all 3 floors of it) and met some nice folks in the hallway who are also stranded here. Apparently I-81 is closed two exits south of here due to a snow-related crash. Fun times to be sure. Hopefully I can get out of here tomorrow AM and get the rest of the way home. I think tonight's dinner is going to be from McDonalds across the street, assuming it's still open around dinner time. If not, I'll trek over to the Flying J truck stop. That's really all there is around here.

Oh well - another adventure, I suppose...

The Line for season hockey tickets was tonight. 46 of the 51 Johnson School students with active line numbers actually showed up, which was a minor miracle! AND and and... I have tickets in SECTION B again! And in an odd twist of fate/nostalgia/coincidence, the tickets I have this year are the EXACT SAME tickets I had as a Junior. It was meant to be :o)

So we all know how much I *love* driving through traffic, right? Well, my good buddy beracjade is a-gettin' hitched tomorrow in Massachusetts, so I drove up today. I thought I was being intelligent by coming up from LI rather than NJ (I only did a "half day" at work as a meeting in the city, but still got back to the island at 2:30). Traffic SUCKED. I didn't take 95, cuz you just don't do that on a Friday. I was all set to go up 684 to 84 to the Masspike, but nooooooo - 684 was closed due to an accident. So I called my dad, vented at him for a minute, and figured out how to get to Mass via the Merritt. Well, let's just say that I was sitting in traffic for THREE HOURS before the highway finally opened up. It took just about 2 hours to get from home to North Stamford, which should take 45-55 minutes. Not. Happy.

But, I'm at the hotel now, waiting for my friend skreidle to get here, so we can catch up, and then decide if I'm going to a bookstore to try to get Harry Potter. I pre-ordered it and didn't realize I wouldn't be home to get it :( We shall see...

Mood: random.
So I realize I'm a temporary resident in a corporate housing apartment, but that doesn't give the staff the right to just WALTZ in here without knocking on a SATURDAY afternoon!!!! I was getting dressed and heard something that sounded remarkably like the key in my lock. Lo and behold it was. Luckily I had just finished getting dressed. I see the door open and am like "HELLO!"

The woman was very apologetic and was trying to make conversation, but I was NOT. HAPPY. It was great, really.....

So now I have to wait till 1 to even leave and get lunch because this woman wants to show the apartment to some person. I don't want to just leave all my stuff here while two total strangers are in the apt - ugh!

Time:12:07 am.
Mood: tired.
Holy crap how am I still awake? I was up at 6AM today to drive up to Ithaca and move from one apartment to another. Of course my shortest move distance-wise (across town) took the longest (I stopped counting). This would not have been possible without Vanessa & Julie - two awesome Gammas :) They were able to help for a little while and it was totally amazing. We got a lot moved (from one apartment to the other). Then the fun began.

Well, let me first tell you about the U-Haul. It was a U-Haul cargo van. Which, while I realize it's not gonna drive like my Jetta or any other sedan out there, it shouldn't drive like a BUS either. That thing had the worst handling ever. I think the TCAT buses handle better. Anyway...

The fun began once Vanessa & Julie left - I had to bring another load of crap to the new place, and then bring my furniture upstairs. Most of it is pretty lightweight IKEA stuff, but still - to schlep it up 16 stairs = not. fun. Everything is upstairs in my new room though - and I moved the gi-normous desk I bought off my classmate who used to live here to the other side of the room. Two dressers, a bed, and a re-loaded bookshelf later, i'm pretty well set up. Needless to say I don't feel bad about not working out yesterday, I'm gonna sleep like a ROCK tonight, and I'm gonna probably be in a world of hurt tomorrow AM for a fun drive back to the Jerz.

Oh, BTW, this post is brought to you by the Best Western's wi-fi. My roomate returned the cable modem at the end of the school year (so as not to pay for it over the summer) - luckily the BW signal reaches here :)

Subject:Ben: 1, New Jersey: 2?
Time:1:16 am.
So I am trying to make peace with the fact that I'm in NJ for 10 weeks this summer. Today I went into the city by driving to Hoboken and taking the PATH train. I got the most amazing spot for the PATH that was totally legal and FREE! I figured it had to be too good to be true, but apparently it wasn't. However, the trip from the city back to Netcong was not quite so simple. I *just* missed a Hoboken-bound PATH train, and had to wait 20 minutes for the next one. Then I get back to Hoboken and step in a GIANT puddle and my feet are still wet 2.5 hours later. Then, in trying to get back to I-280, one of the roads I needed in Kearny was closed and the cop there was not helpful (he said "follow the signs"). There were NO SIGNS ANYWHERE! I ended up in Belleville, NJ and the kind folks at Walgreens hepled me figure out my way back to a highway I could use. As I'm leaving Walgreens, I almost get into not one but two accidents. The drive back to Netcong from Hoboken should have taken 45-50 minutes. It took an hour and a half. Not.Happy.

So I start my internship in, oh, a little over 6 hours and I'm still awake. Need to work on that sleep thing...

Holy crap - the first year of my MBA is OVER! I just finished up my cost accounting final. It didn't rock me, but I certainly didn't rock it either. Partial credit is going to be my friend :o)

Off to LI for a day or two, then back to Ithaca for three days to pack/clean/move/PARTY!

Have I mentioned that my apartment's internet sucks? Cuz it does.

I am now at school, at 10PM on a Friday, in order to get internet. It was slightly useful because it forced me to study accounting for a little bit, but now I'm down at school because I couldn't take the boredom.

I still have to study cost accounting, since the final is, oh, tomorrow. And I haven't opened the textbook since March. Yeah - not gonna be pretty.

OK - time to study before my food gets here.
